  Registration is 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Presentations will go 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

• Synopsis

  The morning session will cover the importance of compliance to school safety and emergency management planning and training in order to be prepared for manmade or natural threats to school safety. Infrastructure Target Hardening of schools and funding projects through grants or bonds will be topics discussed. Civil liability based on the newest standards of “Foreseeability” of school threats, and upper level administrative support of school safety programs will be topics of discussion.

  A working lunch sponsored by Crisis Go will be provided. A short presentation and demonstration of how Crisis Go can assist with communications and accountability during school emergency planning and response will provided during this working lunch.

  The afternoon session will cover Behavioral and Digital Threat Assessment programs in schools as a proactive means of identifying at-risk or violent behavior in schools for pre- incident intervention. These types of programs are recommended in the most recently released Secret Service Report on incidents of school violence. Case studies of recent events of school violence will be referenced in this section.

  Jeff Kaye is a co-founder of the International School Safety Institute, and the president of the consulting company School Safety Operations Inc. Jeff is a motivational speaker, the author of reference books covering areas related to school emergency management and safe school culture and climate, and a recognized expert in school safety.

  Drawing from 25 years of law enforcement experience with the Reno, Nevada Police Department and matriculating into the realm of school safety as Director of Public Safety for a large Southern California K-12 public school district, Jeff and his team now consult and train schools, places of worship, and private industry staff on realistic ways they can stay safe, while remaining prepared to respond to any manmade or natural threat.

  Jeff’s work has been source referenced in the creation of laws, policies, and procedures for school safety in the U.S. and Canada.

  Theresa Campbell, M.A. is the President of Safer Schools Together (SST), an organization focused on promoting a climate and culture of safety in schools. Theresa established SST in 2008 to provide professional development training in the areas of safe schools and violence prevention. She currently serves as the Subject Matter Expert in the province of British Columbia on School Safety, Threat Assessment and Trauma Response. Theresa consults with educational and law enforcement professionals throughout North America.

  

  Dr. Steven Webb

  Dr. Steven Webb is a School Superintendent, Author, Adjunct Professor, Speaker/trainer/facilitator, and school resource officer.

  Dr. Webb has been a school administrator for 27 years and is currently Superintendent of the Goreville Community Unit School District in Goreville, IL. He is also the school’s resource officer which gives him a unique perspective in school safety protocols and budgeting prioritization and lead to the development of his PARA Mindset framework.

  In 2015, Dr. Webb founded Safe School Systems, LLC to help primary schools and universities analyze and assess threats to their learning environments and then create strategies to mitigate those threats to enhance learning. Dr. Webb also published “Education in a Violent World” to provide insights into today’s youth and the culture and climate they encounter while at school.

  Dr. Webb is a certified A.L.I.C.E. Active Threat Response Trainer and R.A.I.D.E.R. Solo Engagement Tactics Level 3 Instructor. Dr. Webb serves on the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators and on the Illinois Terrorism Task Force School Safety Commission.

  He is also an Adjunct Professor of Educational Administration at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Eastern Illinois University, and McKendree University for the past 9 years.

Formation of a collaborative team in schools is the recommended best practice from the U.S. Department of Education as a means to ensure compliance with school emergency management planning and training programs.
